the whole hog

That whole crazy Andriessen recording's now here for your perusal. Also, here's Alex Ross' great article on classical music and the internet, or something. Definitely worth a read.

WORKERS UNION

As promised, here's a taste of that live recording of Workers Union by the Yesaroun'Duo, a saxophone and percussion group starring Sam Solomon and Eric Hewitt. Their program notes are here. If you want the whole lovely thing, I'll happily burn it.

Friday Night.

Tomorrow evening New Amsterdam Records, a label that describes itself as "a haven for the great artists [we] know who make music that slips through the cracks between genres," is hosting a night of music at the CSV Culteral Center/LES Gallery that promises to be a hoot. It features four composers' bands; the composers are Tristan Perich, William Brittelle, Judd Greenstein, and Mark Dancigers and their respective bands are 1-Bit Music, Mohair Timewarp, and Dancigers. I will be there with bells. Also, it's called Awesome Music Live.

So it begins.

Hello all, and welcome to our blog! The idea is for this space to become rife with important new-music-y info, e.g. concerts, other blogs, questions, etc. I'm starting things off with some handy links. If we all hate the "clever" name of this blog (zerogravy.blogspot.com heh.) I am oh so open to alternate ideas. Just let me know (and please check its availability first. This name's the result of a not so creative game of trial and error).

The current list of links is by no means exhaustive, rather, it's something to start with. Add to them, edit them, post whatever you want, and generally Go To Town. Woo.
